Former CEO of GitHub, co-founder of AI Grant, funds moonshot projects like the Vesuvius Challenge
"On @patrickc's recommendation, thoroughly enjoyed The World of Yesterday by Stefan Zweig: https://www.amazon.com/World-Yesterday-Stefan-Zweig/dp/1906548676/ His description of the pre-WW1 world is fascinating: the social and economic stability of bourgeois Austria, the stardom of poets, the "small group theory" of his Viennese friends and their fascination with literature and theater, the non-existence of passports. And then the utter chaos of the post-war period and its hyperinflation. Extremely memorable and poignant, especially knowing that Zweig, finding himself in a post-WW2 world that was not his, eventually took his own life."
